Party in the Park The Platinum Jubillee
Thank you to all that attended and supported Platinum Jubilee Party in the Park 2022 in Nether Stowey.
It was brilliant to have the following Nether Stowey community groups all in one place:
FONSS – Friends Of Nether Stowey School
Nether Stowey CE VC Primary School
Quantock Villages Benefice – St. Mary’s Church
The day kicked off with a village fete with various stall holders, arts, crafts and activities with people enjoying picnics, refreshments and cream teas provided by Quantock Villages Benefice – St. Mary’s Church and Keystone Pizzeria.
Entertainment started with Nether Stowey CE VC Primary School choir flooded by the very brave & talented children of the village in a Talent Show.
Later in the day, Paul Enever worked his magic as an MC buoying up the ‘crowd’ after a deluge early evening put a dampener on the event….ergo Michael J Tinker had a tough gig after the heavens had opened but he didn’t disappoint with a festival feel session.
Leia Violet and her friends continued to entertain the stoic crowd for the rest of the evening with their open mic sessions.
The laser show finale paid for by the Nether Stowey Parish Council closed the day which despite the damp end was a great celebration for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee.
The Nether Stowey Recreation Ground and Village Hall raised £1200 to go towards the new Stowey Centre.
A massive thank you to Stowey Green Spaces who quietly get on with the important task of litter picking which is no mean feat at an event like this.
A big shout out to our army volunteers who without you none of this would have been possible! There are too many of you to mention individually but you know who you are and the community is eternally grateful.
A particular thanks go to Jo and Dave Davison, Sharon Mayell and Eleanor Jones, who coordinated the day.
We’d also like to thank the following supporters of Party in the Park 2022:
The Marion Evered Trust for the load of the marquee.
Faun & Co; for the burgers for the BBQ
Little’s & Quantock Stores (The Post Office) for raffle prizes.
The Parish Council for loan bunting and bins.
Trustees of the Nether Stowey Village Hall and Recreation Ground CIO
